Kukui is a type of tree in Hawaii, where the oils are extracted from. According to Livestrong, the amount of vitamins A, C, and E within kukui possesses anti-oxidants that are crucial to our skin health. This oil is a very well-known phenomenon to people living in Hawaii, but in recent years has started to become more mainstream. In fact, Huffington Post details celebrity Lupita Nyong’o’s use of kukui oil neat on her face.
From my own research using this on myself, it’s very moisturizing, yet non-oily. I’ve actually included this oil into all of my facial products, which has kept my skin feeling quite soothed.
Has anyone tried using kukui nut oil? Of course, if you are allergic to any type of nut, do take caution when trying a new type of oil. It’s best to do a small patch test on the arm, then wait for 24 hours before trying to apply it on your face. Let me know what you think!
