seven-ways-to-combat-dryness

It’s that time of year where we’re gearing up for the holiday season, and dreaming of the fantastic feasts yet to come. However, one of the downsides of colder seasons has to be the dryness that negatively impacts our skin. Have no fear, we’ve rounded up our favorite winter beauty tips, from DIY ideas to diffusers below!

DIY Lip Scrub: Here’s a simple scrub to moisturize dry lips, and there’s only two ingredients! Use organic honey and turbinado sugar (We like Sugar in the Raw, available at Safeway). Mix together, apply to your lips for 15-20 minutes, and gently wipe off. We know, it’ll be hard to resist licking this yummy goodness as you wait.

Hair Mask: Bummed out by frizz and dry hair? We love applying a hair mask once a week when the weather becomes cool. We use a mixture of organic coconut oil and argan oil. Massage your choice of organic oil into your scalp, concentrating on your ends. Our secret? Putting on a shower cap, and exercising for 30 minutes. By the time that we’re done with a workout, the hair mask is ready, and it’s easy to wash off in the shower. If you love DIY ideas, be sure to check out our face masks here!

Moisturize: We adore carrier oils in the winter, especially organic coconut oil and jojoba oil. After showering, we advise applying it all over, concentrating on dry spots. To help with dry heels, apply to your feet, and wear socks as you sleep!

Wonderland Organics Sublime Serum

Wonderland Organics Sublime Serum

Facial Oil: We find that the face area is especially prone to dryness. Moisturize with an organic hydrosol or toner: we love spritizing it on, breathing in deeply for aromatherapy purposes. After toning, we use our favorite facial oil to seal in moisture. Love the scent of lavender? Try the Wonderland Organics Soothe Serum. If you’re a fan of rose, try our Sublime Serum!

Sunscreen: Yes, you read that correctly. The sun still impacts our skin, even when it is hidden behind clouds in the colder seasons. Instead of foundation, we actually suggest using a tinted zinc oxide sunscreen for SPF coverage. We also like using lip balm with SPF 15 (titanium dioxide or zinc oxide!)

Diffuser: We love our Muji travel-sized diffuser, as it can be used for aromatherapy, and can add moisture to your environment. Plus, the LED light emits a soft glow that adds to the comfort of your home. If you’re searching for an uplifting mood enhancer, we suggest adding a few drops of organic orange essential oil (found at Whole Foods) and distilled water.
